3 grubs honk balefully on “The Name of Your Disease

  1. Your female characters always make me wish I were attracted to women.

I feel a bit bad for taking so long to read this, but every trip to the atoll is something that must be enjoyed… or not. Your writing is exceptional in this, even for you. The man and his property are haunting, and the disease itself is exactly the kind of stuff I’m into.

Now I’m wondering to what extent this scenario will show up in the game. Or is it yet another alternate universe? Either way, I’m very pleased for getting to visit it.

    1. haha high praise. yes, every trip to the atoll…truly magical! thank you so much, it’s a big story for me and I’m glad you enjoyed it!

this scenario is part of her backstory in the game, although as always, there is a blurring…but regardless of details, it is emotionally true and part of what happened to her, and I hope the player will get to talk to her about it!

  2. My friend has ME/CFS (they developed it before the COVID pandemic) and I have recently become aware that the “incidence cases of ME/CFS were 15 times higher than pre-pandemic levels” according to a NIH research initiative on COVID. I feel really sad and angry that the population is being failed by the people who are in charge. Your story made it visible the experience of pandemics being minimized, the ability to use words to communicate being taken away from you, not having the power to be heard or understood. You “put into words” the experience of when “words lose their meaning.” I appreciate this story.
